I Was Hacked!

I Was Hacked!

I WAS HACKED!

Well maybe, maybe not.
But if I wasn’t, it was a close call.

I was multi-tasking.
I was listening to a webinar and washing dishes.

When the webinar ended, I heard a man’s voice.

He was saying my computer has been hacked and
my credit card info was being transmitted to
their database at that very minute.

The only way to stop it was to call the Microsoft
toll free number on the screen.

NO! that won’t be Microsoft!

My #1 Rule …
DON’T PANIC!

Not always easy.
But it’s always better to take a minute to think.

My first instinct was to exit the browser.
But, the screen was locked and wouldn’t close.
So, I went into Task Manager and ended the task.

Next, I went to my virus protection program.
I’ve used AVG for years and it’s always kept me safe.
But, AVG was turned off.
Did the hacker do that? COULD the hacker do that?

I turned on AVG and ran a complete scan.
It found 2 viruses and quarantined them.

I rebooted and everything looked normal.

I’ve been checking my credit cards every day.
No problem there.

It still bothers me that I was on a trusted site when this happened.
It was a pop up that seemed to come out of nowhere.

I was lucky.
But, I also like to think I’m careful.

Here’s my advice …

Use a virus protection program that updates often.
Make sure it’s turned on and protecting your system.
Run a complete scan at least once a week.
I trust AVG.

The 80/20 Rule

The 80/20 Rule

What is the 80/20 Rule?

The 80/20 Rule is also known as the Pareto Principle. It’s named after Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian economist. The 80/20 Rule is a ratio that holds true for almost any circumstances you can think of.

80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers.
80% of your results comes from 20% of your activity.
80% of your success comes from 20% of your goals.

How to Use the 80/20 Rule

Always apply the top 20%.

If you’re working on goals, accomplishing only the most important 2 out of 10 will give you the best results. Working on the bottom 80% may be mostly busy work with not much to show for it.

If you’re a network marketer, only 2 out of 10 reps in your downline will build their own team. Those are the reps you want to work with.

If You Don’t TAKE Your Turn, You Don’t GET A Turn

If You Don’t TAKE Your Turn, You Don’t GET A Turn

It took me a long time to realize that if I don’t ever take my turn, I may never get a chance to do the things I want to do.

I’ve been a caregiver my whole adult life. I’ve devoted my life to helping others.

It wasn’t planned.
It’s not my career.
I’m not in the medical field.

I was the one who was available, willing and able.

I don’t regret it. I’ve taken care of 3 special people in my life. I’ve gotten to know them on a much deeper level than I would have otherwise.

I’m still a full time caregiver, but I’m also finding time to do “my thing.” It was just a matter of finding something I wanted to do, and a way to get it done.

How did I do it?

Slowly. One step at a time. Here’s what it takes …

A Vision

What’s the big picture? Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years? This is the time to dream big about what could be. Make a list of your best visions. Then, pick one.

Goals

Goals are the success steps along the way to your vision. Goals are S.M.A.R.T.
Goals Are S.M.A.R.T.

Specific – Clearly define all the details of your goal.

Measurable – How will you know when you’ve completed your goal?

Attainable – Do you have the knowledge and resources to reach your goal?

Realistic – Is this something that’s possible? Is your goal based in facts?

Timely – When will the goal be accomplished? Include a date in your goal.

A Timeline

What steps does it take to reach your goal? How long will each take? What do you need to do every month? Week? Day?

Consistency

Now that you know what to do, it’s time to get to work. Once you start, keep going. It’s much easier to keep the momentum than it is to start over.

Final Note

Celebrate small successes along the way. It will keep you motivated and feeling good along your journey.
